Privacy Policy

Minimalist Timer is private by design. The timer and its sound run entirely on your device. There is no account and no sign-up. The only thing that ever leaves your browser is an anonymous count of how the timer itself is used — described in full below.

What we collect

No personal information — ever. No name, no email, no account, no advertising identifier. Nothing is sold to anyone, and the extension shows no ads.

What the extension does send is a small, anonymous count of how the timer is used, so we can tell whether it actually works for people. In full, that is:

• the panel was opened, and whether it was the first time;
• a session was started, and which length was chosen (5, 15, 25, 45, 90 minutes or open-ended);
• a session ended, how many minutes it ran, and how it ended — it finished on its own, you pressed Finish, you stopped it, or it was left paused;
• a session was paused;
• a setting was changed, and which one — noise colour, tone, energy, cocoon or volume;
• the rating card was answered.

Each event carries a random identifier that is generated on your device, is not linked to you in any way, and is used only to avoid counting one person as many. The extension cannot see the pages you visit — it has no permission to read them — so no browsing history, no page content, and nothing you type is collected, because none of it is available to the extension in the first place.

This counting is processed by Umami, a cookieless analytics service.

Your settings stay on your device

Your preferences — timer length, sound and volume choices, and whether the return-to-session tab is enabled — are saved locally in your own browser using Chrome’s storage API. This data never leaves your device and is never sent to us or anyone else. Removing the extension removes it.

Why the extension asks for permissions

Every permission is used solely to run the timer on your device. None of them send your data anywhere:

• sidePanel — show the timer in the browser side panel.
• storage — remember your settings locally, as described above.
• offscreen — keep the sound playing when the panel is closed.
• scripting — draw the small return-to-session tab on the page you are viewing.
• host access (optional, only if you turn the tab on) — show that return-to-session tab across websites. It reads and sends nothing.

The sound never goes anywhere

The sound is generated on your device in real time — nothing is streamed, downloaded, or uploaded, and the timer keeps working with no connection at all. The only network request the extension ever makes is the anonymous usage count described above; if it fails, the timer carries on exactly as before.

Our web pages

The install and uninstall pages (like this one) are ordinary web pages, separate from the extension. Like most websites they use analytics to count visits and understand how the pages are used; some of it sets cookies. None of it is used for advertising, and none of it is joined with anything from the extension.

Children

The extension collects no personal data from anyone, including children. The anonymous usage count described above contains nothing that could identify a person of any age.

Changes to this policy

If this policy ever changes, the “Last updated” date above will change with it.
